How does Laser Skin Resurfacing work?
The experts at New Touch Laser Spa are all about aesthetic enhancement. With years of experience, and constant evolution they are able to use laser skin resurfacing to help alleviate even the most severe skincare issues. Lasers skin resurfacing works similarly to other laser treatments – using heat energy to penetrate beneath the skin’s surface, in order to remove the outer layers of old, dead skin cells, layer by layer.

The secret to laser skin resurfacing lies in the use of heat energy penetrating into the inner layer of the skin known as the dermis. This heat energy stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanism while simultaneously stimulating the production of vital skincare compounds known as collagen and elastin. As we age, these compounds stop being produced naturally within the body. However, the Cynosure laser triggers a reaction allowing them to form within the dermis. Collagen provides the skin with its volume, and its smooth, soft, supple feel – reducing the appearance of outer blemishes, scars, wrinkles, and facial folds. In addition, collagen supports our skin’s naturally, youthful glow. While elastin is responsible for giving our skin its elastic quality, allowing it to “snap-back” from being stretched. The more elastin produced, the tighter and firmer our skin will be.

Consultation
While most clients are excellent candidates for laser skin resurfacing, depending upon your specific issues as well as your skin type we will judge your candidacy during your initial consultation.
Before ANY laser procedure, it is important to make our staff aware of any medications or topical creams you might be using or have used recently. These compounds can cause adverse affects when used in conjunction with lasers. Also, avoid things like aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, and overexposure to the sun a week to 10 days before your procedure.

Side Effects & Downtime
The best thing about laser skin resurfacing, as with most procedures using the Cynosure Elite+ is that there are very few side effects and 0 downtime! Depending on the patient’s skin type, sensitivity, and skincare issues they may experience light swelling or redness post-procedure, however this is rare and these symptoms will generally disappear within a day or two.

Some patients will experience minor skin peeling – however, this is generally a part of the procedure as the outer layer of dead skin is being removed. Your skin will continue to heal and improve every day, for the next few weeks.
Laser skin resurfacing requires 0 downtime or recovery period, most patients can return to work or other daily activities immediately after the procedure. Despite this, patients are advised to avoid overly-strenuous exercise, overexposure to sunlight, and the use of certain topical creams – in the first few days following your procedure. This will ensure the best results and prevent any damage to the skin.
